Artist, Yoonshin Yi

Ceramic artist Yoonshin Yi is one of the most important figures in the history of Korean ceramics, having steadfastly continued the legacy of traditional and contemporary ceramics during the 1990s, a time when Korea's ceramics industry was losing direction and experiencing an identity crisis. Her persistent dedication and efforts have contributed to restoring Korea's illustrious reputation as a ceramics powerhouse. Her distinctive ceramic designs continue to inspire many younger artists, and through her works, Korean ceramics have been able to evolve with advanced techniques and refined designs as seen today. This evolution has also influenced the development of Korean dining culture, elevating it to a more sophisticated level where style and taste are enjoyed together.

She is the founder of Korea's high-end handcrafted ceramics brand, ‘yido’. For over 30 years, she has been a businesswoman and an outstanding ceramic designer, dedicated to the Korean ceramics industry. Recently, she has returned to focus on her artistic work once again. Atelier Sey is honored to present her ceramic pieces to you. This collection marks the first of her new works after resuming her creative practice, and these pieces reflect Yoonshin Yi's artistic philosophy of enriching everyday life with beautiful and meaningful art.

Clay Drawing Collection

This collection, reminiscent of drawings on a new canvas, is Yoonshin Yi’s honest expression after shedding the heavy responsibilities she had carried for so long. The works are free, bold, yet delicate and full of warmth. Unlike her usual wheel-throwing method, she has predominantly used the coiling technique in this collection, allowing you to experience the time and touch of the artist in every piece. Yoonshin Yi’s works, beloved by many collectors, are deeply meaningful pieces that capture the true essence of craftsmanship.
